Jersey Dress

While all the other bloggers are posting their fall outfits already, I'm desperately clutching onto my summer ones. Sunny, warm days are so scarce here that the minute the temperature gets above....oooh...I don't know...18 degrees Celsius, all the Brits get their summer gear out, me included. And I'll be damned if I put my summery outfits away just yet.

I have a sweet tooth. No, make that a VERY sweet tooth. And watching TV programmes like Great British Bake Off  doesn't help at all. Every time I watch it I have to eat. And bake. Like...IMMEDIATELY.
So, here's a cheesecake. A cheesecake that doesn't need baking coincidentally. But it's still very good.

Here's what ya'll need:

butter: 75g
digestive biscuits (or similar dry biscuits): 10, crushed
white chocolate: 300g, broken into chunks
mascarpone: 500g
double cream: 150ml
strawberries, blueberries or any other fruit to decorate (apart from melon....don't use melon, I really don't like it :D)

* butter a round cake tin
* put the butter in a saucepan and melt slowly over a low heat. remove saucepan and add crushed digestive biscuits stirring until thoroughly mixed. spoon this mixture into the cake tin, compact it and place in the fridge to cool.
* put the white chocolate (and do me a favour and use GOOD white chocolate with vanilla and not a sugary mess) and about 100g of mascarpone into a bowl. place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until chocolate melts. leave to cool slightly  and then whisk in the remaining mascarpone until smooth. stir in the cream. leave for 5 minutes or so for it to firm up a bit.
 * spoon  the mixture on top of biscuit base and smooth it over. chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours, but preferably overnight. do not be like me and check it every 5 minutes to see if it's ready to eat yet. It's not.
before serving, decorate with strawberries or other fruit. try not to eat the whole cake in one go. leave some for your boyfriend or a husband.

Mellow Yellow

We're having an extended weekend here in England and after one day lazying around the house and one day at a Notting Hill Carnival (will post about that later), today was time to do grocery shopping. Cos...y'know, there was nothing left to eat in the house unless you want to count mouldy strawberries. Yikes!
So, this is my Stepford Wife gone grocery shopping outfit. I never was too sure about yellow what with my super pasty skin and all, but seeing that yellow had a bit of a moment this summer, I did succumb and bought this dress on ASOS earlier this year. I think I can just about pull the colour off. What do you think?

The necklace is from Forever 21, though my husband can't for the life of him understand why would anyone want to wear a key necklace. He reckons it would have been cheaper to hang my house key on the chain. "Practical as you would not lose your keys AND fashionable", according to him.

Neon Pink

Yes, I know that everyone and their grandma has been working both neon colours AND coloured jeans this season, and I'm way late to that party, but for what it's worth here's my take on that trend. Revolutionary it ain't, but then again I'm not claiming to be revolutionary or ground breaking.
I paired my neon jeans with Kain label vest top and my beloved Louboutins. I discovered Kain tops last year and they're super soft, like cloud. Perfect for the summer. They're very thin and delicate, so could be a good idea to wear them layered.I get mine from Shopbop .
And please excuse my frazzled hair ends. I've been WAY too enthusiastic with the curling tongs these last few days.

Dragonflies

A very casual outfit today for a coffee and a cake with husband in my neighbourhood. I thought that this dress might be a bit too young for me, and it probably is, but it's such an easy piece for just hanging out and about and so comfortable. It's made of heavy cotton jersey fabric and it has a cute dragonfly print. I paired it with comfy Superga trainers. I actually remember those from back in the days when I was a teenager. They were all the rage then and I'm so glad they made a comeback.
