Lace And Denim

This lace dress is my latest favourite purchase and I've been wearing it everywhere. From business meetings to brunches with friends. I love it so much, I'm thinking about getting a black version too. It's a very easy piece to wear and can be dressed up or down. My enthusiasm, however, is not shared by everyone. "It needs a belt", "It's very granny-like...no?", "Very closed....you need to show some cleavage...and leg, definitely show some leg."; are the comments I've been getting.
Well, I'm showing some leg in the photo above and granny chic is very happening, right? :D
I wore:
Lace dress: ASOS
Wedge boots: Zara
Bracelets: vintage
Rings: Ottoman Hands; Isharya
Denim jacket: Wrangler

Lips: O.M.G. by Sleek
Nails: Rouge Rubis by Mavala

Evel Knievel

"Would you like to go to an exclusive bike club?"; asked The Husband.
"Sure, why not."; said I.
He had me at exclusive, but I should have known better. We're talking about the bike club after all.
And so I found myself in the depths of Hertfordshire trying to avoid stepping into nettles and prickly shrubbery and watching grown men (including The Husband) doing bike stunts and channeling Evel Knievel.

I wore:
Denim shirt: ASOS
Necklace: Orelia
Bracelet: Gorjana
Ring: Isharya
Denim shorts: French Connection
Trainers: Nike

Nails: Amorous by Me Me Me
Lips: Impassioned by MAC

Braids

I was trying my best to channel the Russian peasant chic when I braided my hair and piled it up on top of my head, but my husband took one look at it and said..."What's this? It's horrible. You look like an OLD SENHORA." Presumably an old senhora from Brazil since husband is Brazilian.
"You don't understand fashion. Or hair. Don't be coming to me with your sartorial questions again. I won't help."; I said.
So...to channel an old Brazilian lady look I wore:
Blouse: Zara
Ring: old
Flared jeans:  Pepe Jeans
Sandals: Kurt Geiger

Lips: O.M.G. by Sleek
Nails: Put A Pin In IT by Color Club

Kimono Jacket

I wore this for a mini day trip to Brighton on a hot, but very windy day. I wanted to be super comfortable, even though, in hindsight, the sandals I wore were NOT made for walking along the pebbly beach. Ouch. The kimono jacket is a relatively new purchase from Winter Kate, Nicole Richie's label. I love the boho feel and I love, love, love the woven leather detailing on shoulders.
Whilst in Brighton I enjoyed a surly service, overpriced chips (£3.50 for a small portion, anyone? Anyone?), seagulls trying to land on my head and crowded trains from and to London. I can't wait to go again.

Try to ignore the scratch on my thigh. My cat decided it's a jolly good idea to use my leg as an anchor to break her fall.

I wore:
Kimono jacket: Winter Kate
Sunnies: Ray-Ban
Vest top: Zara
Denim shorts: French Connection
Necklace: Kenneth Jay Lane
Sandals: Miss Trish Of Capri

Also....we have a winner of a Vjera Vilicnik's dress giveaway. Congratulations to Ivana M. and thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway. :)

Something New

You may have noticed I've been wearing espadrilles a lot this summer, but the other go-to type of shoe for hot weather is certainly a humble flip-flop. But not just any old flip-flop...it has to be Havaianas. I fell in love with them when I visited Brazil for the first time more than a decade ago and they have been a summer staple ever since. They are super comfortable (unlike the plastic flip flops), they do not lose their shape as they're made of natural rubber and they come in huge array of colours and designs. They are truly the best flip-flops out there. No other brand comes close.
I have a huge collection of them already, but I'm always happy to get more. My newest dotty Slim Fresh Flip Flop addition was sent to me by kind folks at www.surfdome.com . You can see more of their collection HERE including some super cute kids Havaianas complete with Disney characters and back strap for more stability for little ones.

The next thing is a gift from myself to myself by Ottoman Hands, a London based brand producing jewellery pieces in Turkey using traditional methods. I just love the rougher unpolished finish on this ring and think it will go nicely with quite a lot of outfits.

Last but not least, I bought some tracksuit bottoms. You know, for lounging around the house....erm...and possibly for mixing it up with some heels and going out dressed like that if I dare.

White Cotton Dress

There's something very summery about white cotton dresses and even though they probably look better with tanned skin rather than my pasty white tones, I just cannot resist them. Even though my dress is old, it stood a test of time thanks to its classic shape and a good quality cotton. It's lined as well which is good because I don't want to be flashing my knickers for all to see. :D
I teamed it up with espadrilles (this summer's favourite of mine)  and my trusty old tooled leather bag.
I wore:
Cotton dress-C&C California
Espadrilles: Soludos
Headscarf: Pucci
Sunnies: Ray-Ban
Bag: Cleobella
Bracelets: Made; vintage
Rings: Made
